Workers’ Compensation Defense
Clinton C. Lyons, Jr. is a fourth generation native of Florida who began practicing in the area of workers’ compensation insurance defense in 1993. Clint joined Moran Kidd in 1998, and along with James Kidd, he now oversees the firm’s workers’ compensation insurance defense department.
Clint practices before Judges of Compensation Claims statewide at the trial and appellate levels. He concentrates his practice on the representation of employers, self-insured funds, carriers, insurers and third party administrators in workers’ compensation claims. On a daily basis his practice addresses such issues as attendant care, average weekly wage/compensation rate, compensability, controversy/contribution claims between employer/carriers, exposure (chemical), indemnity, managed care arrangements, repetitive trauma and the drafting of settlement documents including general releases. He also handles workers’ compensation appeals, and subrogation and lien recovery cases. In addition to handling litigated claims, Clint also assists his clients with return to work policies, drug free workplace implementation and maintenance, retaliatory discharge claims and Americans with Disabilities Act issues.
Clint is also a certified arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau, in which capacity he resolves disputes between consumers and automobile manufacturers and dealers in Central Florida.
